Our ability to make money while traveling is what enables our full-time lifestyle. So, what do the Nomadlyweds do?
Dawn
Dawn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has two remote jobs:
- After Hours Care Manager for an insurance company
- Online Mental Health Therapist
Her first job is a 16-hour commitment each week with a set schedule. That means we need to plan accordingly to make sure she can get online to work.
Her second job allows a little more flexibility, but she does have scheduled client time each week that we have to plan around as well.
Bryan
I’m a full-time affiliate marketer. That means I own and operate websites and make money from the traffic. I monetize my traffic in two ways:
- Earn commissions for referring sales of products
- Advertisements
When I went to school to get my B.A. in Biological Sciences, I did not foresee this career path. It’s actually all sort of new. I launched my flagship site–the one that generates the majority of my revenue–in February 2017.
By December 2017 I had already exceeded $5,000 per month in revenue. By September 2018 I put in my two weeks notice at my full-time job and started my own company developing and monetizing content.
Currently, the majority of my affiliate revenue comes as a member of the Amazon Associates affiliate program, but I am working to diversify with other affiliate networks.
In May 2019, right as we were getting ready to hit the road full time, my network of sites pulled in $7,937.

The best part about operating websites is the extremely low overhead. A domain costs about $25 per year, hosting is $150-$400 depending on the service you use, and that’s it. You can pay for myriad other things–email campaign services and freelance writers to name two–but those aren’t required.
The other best part about operating websites is the flexibility. Literally, I can work from anywhere there’s an Internet connection. And if I want to get off the grid for days or weeks, I can. Of course, I still need to put in my hours. I try to treat it as a regular full-time job, though I prefer working afternoons and evenings so I can do fun stuff in the morning!
On our Meet The Nomadlyweds page I said our goal with this site was three-fold: Document, Share, and Inspire.
- Document our adventures so we can prove to our future kids that Mom and Dad really were cool.
- Share the incredible people and places we encounter along the way.
- Inspire others (like you!) to find their adventure, whether that’s checking out that new restaurant with friends, taking more weekend camping trips, or going full-time like us!
Part of our goal to Inspire is to also Enable. We want to spark your desire to live your best life and then give you the tools to do it!
